Conferences and training

Over the years he has taken part in several conferences, study days and initiatives related to several legal topics.
In terms of organising, he has particularly focussed on conferences, talks, and publications in the field of urban planning and public contracts.
In terms of legal culture he has focussed on public participation and increased efficiency in local government and public services and on the role of the European Union and its bodies in guarenteeing fundamental rights.

Other focus areas

Since he was young he held several local government roles, such as in 1970 in his home town of Ramacca.
From 1996 to 2000 he was Councillor for Urban Planning for Catania Local Council.
He has managed the practice and related partnerships, coordinating on average 30 lawyers and associated staff.
Cooperation and intergration between professional and personal skills have always informed his managerial activity; since the ’80s he has promoted the development of information technology alongside quality assurance procedures.

“..I have always thought that the heart of legal work can be traced back to those civil law principles that have been at the basis of my education. This is why I have tried to firmly hold these principles even when I intensively pursued other fields, especially administrative law.
In my professional life, which spans almost 50 years, administrative and civil law have blended harmoniously, confirming to me the need for a holistic understanding and approach to law.
Today, when I see this holistic vision fractured, I try to reinvigorate it by looking at the new principles of European law..”
